All hail our legendary birthday queen, @opelnyc. Sharing time with this beautiful soul on and off stage is a total delight. I admire your playful spirit, supreme work ethic, and brilliant mind. You are quick to listen and lend a helping hand (or sides coaching). I love you so much. We are the luckiest to have you!! @wicked_musical 💚
It’s Breedlove’s birthday. •
We had an immediate connection when I joined Wicked 4 years ago. Among many things (a true renaissance man), he’s the makeup supervisor at Wicked. His lighthearted banter, jovial spirit, and peaceful demeanor made me feel so at ease for my Glinda put in, I recall. It wasn’t until a month later that we made a magical discovery.
It was Christmas Eve. My family had all returned home, and I was alone in the big city. Breed and I went out for Thai food! Upon returning to his apartment, his mom, who was visiting, and I struck up a conversation about her roots in small town Illinois. Turns out it was the neighboring town to where my grandmother grew up. Turns out his grandmother and my grandmother went to the same high school (Go Pinckneyville Panthers!). Turns out they knew each other and my Gram wanted to teach his Grandma Bessie how to dance.
It’s crazy how in this great big world, we could be so connected. It seemed serendipitous, and, yet, totally meant to be.
Fast forward, Breed is like a brother to me now. It’s been a joy adventuring and laughing and dreaming together these past 4 years. And I could not be more thankful for his friendship and for the opportunity to be back at the Gershwin together!
I hope this birthday is the best yet. I love you, @breedlovenyc! ❤️
